PeterSturgeonunderstandsthenon-profitworldofthePGATourandhowmanycharitiesarefundedbyPGATourevents.That’swhyhesaiditwassoshockingthatthePalmDesert-basedTheOpheliaProjectisbeingnamedthePGATour’s2024CharityoftheYear. “Weknowwedogoodwork,butwealsoknowthereare44toureventsaroundCanadaandtheU.S.,andtheyhavenon-profitsinallofthosecommunities,”saidSturgeon,presidentandCEOofTheOpheliaproject,partoftheJohnF.KennedyMemorialFoundation.“Itwasreallyquitestaggeringandanaffirmationtoour80mentorswhocomealongsidetheseyoungladiesandhelpthemandsupportthem.” Oneof16charitiesfundedbyTheAmericanExpressPGAToureventinLaQuintaatacharitydistributionbreakfastlastmonth,theawardfromthePGATourbringsanadditional$30,000toTheOpheliaProject.
